What’s like to have a BFF

bestfriend

I’m never that girl that’s without a plan. Everything needs to be written down, scripted. Then, she came along and everything changed. Life was more impromptu and although no one leads an exciting life everyday because it’s logically impossible, mine seems to be pretty decent, probably every other day.

*clears the throat*

My BFF – “Broke Friend Forever / Best Friend” At least for the time being, we are broke.

It’s not like it’s been years since I’ve known her but time shouldn’t be dictating whom you cherish because of a certain time frame.

As cliché as it may sound, a good friend is really hard to come by. Especially someone who would treats you like you’re blood related.

So what’s like to have a non-blood related sister? Well, these are some of the few that I could relate.

Someone to pay

As broke as we both are, we still do not really mind paying for each other’s meal. In fact, we fight over it because we would often think that the other needs the money more. As long as its money related, we are both willing to be one penny poorer and “it’s okay.”

Someone to travel with budget

Okay! No one is that rich in their early twenties unless you have a very stable financial family background. This is, if you’re not too embarrassed to ask for travel money from your parents when you’re earning yourself. I am!

Or you’re just super lucky to actually earn a very good living in the budding stage of life.

So, if I’m broke, I’m not gonna kill myself travelling with friends who are loaded and have tons of spare cash lying around. Hence, BFF to the rescue. Someone that understands your financial burden as much as you and yet, still willing to fork out a certain amount just so the both of you can have a decent getaway.

Yup, cheapskate all the way to cheapy- cheap -town.

Somewhere to belong

As humans, we tend to want to find a place where we truly belong. A place where we can make ourselves at home. A place we can call our sanctuary. Well, her house, your house?? Her family, your family? Her stuff, your stuff? What’s the difference?

That’s where you go for free good comfort food and unlimited internet access! If you’re lucky, she might even give you her house key so you can pop in anytime. Isn’t life great ?!

Someone to be there for you

Well, technically anyone can be there for you but not everyone’s willing to help if it’s not convenient nor beneficial to them.

This is where your BFF steps in the middle of the night, still in her pyjamas with her dad as the chauffeur whilst you wait for them at the airport. Hugs you, welcomes you back home and tells you everything is going to be fine. Falls asleep and brings you to work the next day because bills does not pay itself.

She will always be the one that says, “My house. I have food. We can sing till 4am.”

I mean, come on, who does that? Her house till 4am with free food! Blessed!

Someone to consult and a shoulder to cry on

To be really clear, I am no devil and far beyond that but definitely not an angel. It’s just that I do stupid stuff that clearly I’ve never thought twice. But as dumb as I am, I like to share. Hence, free consultations and nags whenever I come out with total bullshit and when that bullshit happens, well you can count on someone to listen to your crap as you sob your way through the night.

Someone to turn down guys “politely”

We would so often tell each other that we are cock-blocking each other with our gay comments but we would so use each other whenever we are trying to get out from a potential relationship that we didn’t want to be involved. That’s what friends do! No?

weirdo

Just know that, Best Friends are people who make your problems their problems, so that you don’t have to go through it alone. And, as I grow, I realised it is less important to have tons of friends but more important to have a few real friends.
